All England Ground
The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) sports ground is between Grand Drive, Southway, Elm Walk and Cannon Hill Lane. Development is proposed which would be accessed via Cannon Hill Lane, and a planning application has been lodged for consideration.
S T O P P R E S S * * * the public meeting planned at 7pm on 11th January 2011 will now take place at St. John Fisher School Hall, Grand Drive (not at The Beverley, as previously advertised). The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the development proposals with the developers and planning officers. The site is known locally as the "All England" ground because it is owned by the "All England Club" - the famous home of British tennis in Church Lane Wimbledon, but it's official name is "Raynes Park Playing Fields".
There are some excellent grass courts, which in the past were used for practice by players competing in "The Championships", but sadly, not any more.
