SUMMER PARTY
We held a very enjoyable party for our volunteers and supporters in the Pavilion at the end of June. The weather relented for once and we were able to be outside in the garden in the sunshine, and to enjoy using the new furniture.
One of the new pieces, sourced by Premises Management Group Chair, Jerry Cuthbert, is a bench seat for four people, and this was where we placed a plaque to honour David Freeman for his work for the Association for over 30 years.
We were very pleased that David’s wife, Philomena, and their eldest son, Anthony, were able ceremonially to unveil the plaque, and to join in the toast in his honour.
BORROW INSTEAD OF BUY!
This is the title of a very useful piece in the summer Council newspaper. It was news to me, and maybe many of our members, that the Council hosts a company which has a rental service for items of household use. These include a toolkit, a saw, an extendable ladder and a pressure washer. You may also borrow garden equipment such as a lawn mower, hedge trimmer, and secateurs.
There is, of course, a cost for borrowing these items but it is said to be affordable, and has been used so far by some 2,000 Merton residents. You have to sign up at Morden library. Further details are available at:

We hope all of you will have a lovely and relaxing summer holiday.
